The Annual Vancouver Chinatown Festival
is the largest multicultural summer celebration in the neighborhood.   Attended by families, youths, the general public, and tourists, Chinatown Festival has become a spectacular summer attraction and the number of participants continues to grow each year.   The attendance of the 5th Vancouver Chinatown Festival was estimated at 38,000 over the two-day event.   With the support from community stakeholders and sponsors, we are able to make Chinatown Festival a free event for everyone to enjoy.


Highlights of the 6th Vancouver Chinatown Festival include:

 

Chinatown heritage and food tasting tour
While strolling through the rich history of Chinatown with its' fine collection of heritage buildings, clan associations, shops, temples and other unique attractions rarely open to the public, you can sample world-renowned Chinese delicacies that will ensure your palatal satisfaction.


Youth Talent Showdown 2005

A contest that opens to all performers between the ages of 15 to 25.   Contest participants will have a unique experience to showcase their talents to local residents and tourists at Vancouver's historic Chinatown.   Top Ten Finalists will be selected at the Preliminaries on July 30 and compete for three awards at the Finals on August 7.


Multicultural Stage Performances and BMX Bike Stunt Shows

An array of stage entertainments for both days of the Festival including Heartbeat, the featured performance in the First Annual Chinese Performing Arts Festival.   Everyone should not miss the traditional lion dances, Chinese kung fu, martial arts, other entertaining dance performances from the world.   Stay tuned for BMX Bike Stunts Shows headlined by Christophe Bioules and his team.


Chinese Folk Art demonstrations

Come and see for yourself how the strong colors, solid images, auspicious themes, rich and genuine compositions are expressed in a variety of Chinese folk art forms.   You can learn to write your name using brushes, try paper-cutting sophisticated images effortlessly, and discover the art of Chinese painting, and much more!

Kids and Cops Korner
Presented by Chinese Community Policing Centre, kids will learn bike safety at the Bike Rodeo and explore the new Vancouver Police Cars and vintage ambulances, on Saturday, August 6.   Lots of inflatable games and other children's activities on both days of the Festival.

Don't forget to visit all the landmarks in Chinatown and check out the community info displays, open-air market, food booths, and enter the on-site lucky draws!
