Accomplishments

Vancouver Chinatown BIA Society focus on improving Chinatown's safety and cleanliness, expanding and strengthening its promotions and events, and working with the media and external partners to improve Chinatown's public realm, public perception and relations.

BIA Award

In 2002, the VCBIA was awarded the "Best in the West" award from the Business Improvement Associations of British Columbia for the success of the 2nd annual Chinatown Festival.

Torch Relay

The VCBIA approached the City of Vancouver last November to apply for the Olympic Torch to go through Chinatown. The City approved the application, and the VCBIA organized the event "Passing the Torch in Chinatown" on February 12, 2010.

Beijing 2008

For the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, the City of Vancouver collaborated with the VCBIA's annual event Chinatown Festival to host an Olympic event on the streets of Columbia and Keefer. The event turned out to be an enormous success with the 5 mascots (named Fuwa) coming out to enjoy the Festival with attendants. Representatives from Vancouver and Beijing were on hand to celebrate this event.

• To participate actively in the community events as well as the Revitalization program of Chinatown
